Clinical Nursing Skills Program with International Nursing Lecturers from MAHSA University Malaysia
Shalamar Nursing College is proud to announce that we are hosting a Clinical Nursing Skills Program with International Nursing Lecturers from MAHSA University Malaysia. This program began on February 20, 2023, and will continue until March 03, 2023. We are honored to have Putri Norliana Binte Megat and Ramli Nalayanni Vasu, experienced International Nursing Lecturers, share their expertise with our students. Our students are learning the latest clinical skills and procedures in Fundamental Nursing, Adult Health Nursing, and Critical Care Nursing from these esteemed lecturers. During this program, the International Nursing Lecturers are training and educating our students on various clinical skills and procedures based on international parameters. They are sharing their clinical experience with our students and our Nursing lecturers at SNC, which is a unique opportunity to learn from international experts. This program is an invaluable opportunity for our students to learn from these experts and enhance their clinical skills and knowledge. Our goal is to provide our students with a comprehensive nursing education that prepares them to succeed in their future careers. Mr. Jahanzaib Sohail, a distinguished health economist from the World Bank, visits Shalamar Hospital
We were honored to welcome Mr. Jahanzaib Sohail, a distinguished health economist from the World Bank, to our Shalamar Hospital. As part of his visit, Mr. Sohail oversaw the facilities being provided under the Sehat Sahulat Program, which aims to improve access to quality healthcare for families in Pakistan. During his visit, Mr. Sohail met with our dedicated team of doctors, nurses, and staff, who work tirelessly to provide compassionate care to all our patients. He also toured our state-of-the-art facilities. We are proud to be a part of the Sehat Sahulat Program, which is helping to reduce the financial burden of healthcare on vulnerable families and improve health outcomes across the country.

7th International Conference: Sharing Solutions
The Shalamar Institute of Health Sciences (SIHS) hosted the 7th International Conference: Sharing Solutions from February 2nd-5th, 2023. The conference brought together leading doctors, professors, and medical enthusiasts from around the world to share their expertise and exchange ideas on the latest advancements in the field of health sciences. The conference was a unique blend of lectures, live surgeries, and hands-on workshops, providing attendees with the opportunity to observe and learn from experienced professionals. The conference aimed to provide a platform for healthcare professionals to learn about the latest advancements in their field and to network with their peers from around the world. The keynote speakers at the conference included renowned doctors and professors who shared their insights on the latest trends in the field of health sciences. The live surgeries provided attendees with the opportunity to see firsthand how the latest surgical techniques and technologies are used to treat a variety of medical conditions. In addition, the workshops allowed attendees to gain hands-on experience with the latest medical equipment and techniques, and to interact with experts in the field. Talk on Emerging Antimicrobial Resistance in Pakistan
Dr. Muhammad Hamid Zaman, a Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering and Global Health and the Director of the Center on Forced Displacement at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute in the USA, and Prof James Wescoat from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA, were guest speakers discussing the topic of Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR). They discussed about the increasing problem of antibiotic resistance in Pakistan and the impact it has on public health. They also shared their expertise and research in the field of AMR, providing valuable insights and perspectives on this important global health challenge. Dr. Zaman also highlighted the gaps that need to be filled to address this issue in Pakistan. Dr. Mariam Danish Iqbal, Assistant Professor Microbiology also presented the data collected on AMR at Shalamar Hospital and inferences drawn.
Shalamar Institute of Health Sciences (SIHS) MoU with Services Institute of Medical Sciences (SIMS)
A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Shalamar Institute of Health Sciences (SIHS) and Services Institute of Medical Sciences (SIMS). The purpose of this MOU is to develop cooperation and promote mutual understanding and excellent practice based education, research and knowledge exchange in Stroke Management between the parties. This partnership will focus on improving the relationship between the two institutes to ensure timely disease identification and treatment pathways. Through this partnership. patients admitted with Stroke in Shalamar Hospital shall have access to free Tissue Plasminogen Activator (tPA) , which will be provided by Department of Neurology, SIMS, Lahore to Shalamar Hospital, Lahore.

We are delighted to announce that The 3rd Volume of the Journal of Shalamar Medical and Dental College (JSHMDC) has been published. The Journal is a multi-disciplinary medical journal published bi-annually. It publishes scholarly work from medical, dental, allied health sciences, medical education, and biomedical sciences. It is devoted to publish the recent advances in research with special emphasis on clarity of presentation and precision of the data. The Journal of Shalamar Medical and Dental College (JSHMDC) is recognized by HEC.

Dr. Ahmed Bilal and Professor Dr. Nadeem Hameed presented data collected at Shalamar Hospital on respiratory illness among children and trends observed. Leading pediatricians Prof. Dr. Waqar Hussain Shalamar Hospital), Mr. Nadeem Zafar, President of the Pakistan Pediatric Association, Prof. Dr. M Haroon Hamid (Mayo Hospital), Prof Dr. M Faheem Afzal (General Hospital) shared their thoughts on the data and discussed patient management with Post Graduate Residents, House Officers, and General Physicians
Accreditation of Training Programs by the College of Physicians & Surgeons Pakistan
Accreditation of Training Programs by the College of Physicians & Surgeons Pakistan On December 24th 2022, the College of Physicians & Surgeon Pakistan (CPSP) accorded accreditation to Shalamar Hospital /Shalamar Medical & Dental College (SMDC) for FCPS training in following disciplines: I. Uro-Gynaecology II. Plastic Surgery III. Forensic Medicine The accreditation was based on physical inspection conducted at the facility. The objective of the inspection was to evaluate the suitability and sufficiency of the following facilities at the institute for creation of an educational atmosphere to implement CPSP training program. 1) Appropriate resources including sufficient space and availability of technical and managerial staff for Clinical & Research work. 2) Teaching faculty with post fellowship teaching experience / eligible supervisor. 3) Availability of both basic / advanced equipment related to the speciality. 4) Clinical workload and case mix in the relevant field. 5) Proposed curriculum & plan for the implementation and subsequent evaluation. 6) Barring certain local differences, ensure the uniformity of training programmes being run all over the country.
