Centres of Excellence

Research has always been a cornerstone of Shalamar Institute of Health Sciences’ innovation strategy. The Centre of Excellence (COE) framework was established to instil a thirst for research among the SIHS community. Its goal is to encourage forward-thinking researchers to develop novel answers to today’s healthcare issues.

The COE will help standardize best practices in the health sector and incorporate them into its service delivery system, continuously improving service delivery standards.

The core goals of the COEs are to:

  1. Use the vast intellectual pool to develop and disseminate knowledge by promoting a research environment among students and professors
  2. Recognize the potential for improving patient treatment and handling, and take necessary steps to ensure excellent healthcare services.
  3. Develop an enhanced curriculum that includes methodologies aligned with current population needs and evolving health industry trends.

The COEs have the flexibility to continuously learn and innovate their services through analyzing the health industry trends and patient feedback. It will assist the organization to become the leading institute in delivering health services and medical education.

Currently, the established Centers of Excellence are:

  1. Women Health Center (including our gynecology department and breast clinic)
  2. Department of Rheumatology
  3. SIDER (Sakina Begum Institute of Diabetes and Endocrinology Research)
